This evening is the Watertown High School’s Freshman Preview Night for incoming 9th grade students (current 8th grade students)! This is a fantastic opportunity for incoming 9th grade students and families to prepare for their transition to Watertown High School for the 2023-24 school year by learning more about course offerings, the course registration process, and academic as well as extracurricular opportunities available at WHS. Please review the information below to ensure you have everything you need to make Freshman Preview Night as valuable as possible to set the stage for your student’s success at WHS! We highly encourage all incoming students and families to attend!
Event Description & Logistics
The night will include a presentation by WHS administration, department team leaders, and school counselors highlighting important information for incoming students to consider as they plan for their academic career at WHS. Immediately after the presentation, families are welcome to tour WHS to familiarize themselves with the building and meet with teachers, club advisors, and counselors to help answer any questions about the course registration process in addition to extracurricular opportunities available at WHS. Devices will also be available for families to complete the enrollment process in the WHS Media Center.
5:45 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.: Orientation & Freshman Course Information Presentation (WHS Auditorium)
6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.: WHS Stations and Self-Guided Tour of WHS (Watertown High School)
During the self-guided tour, students are encouraged to complete the WHS Passport for a chance to win a prize including a Hydro Flask or a pair of Apple AirPods Earbuds!
WHS School Counselors will be available at Riverside Middle School in late January to answer any student follow-up questions regarding the course selection process. Students should begin the scheduling process at home and parents are encouraged to login to Skyward with their student to assist their class selections.

If you have any questions regarding the course selection process or a conflict and are unable to attend this meeting, please call the Student Services Department at (920) 262-7550.

Endeavor Charter School is a unique, independent, project based learning environment open to any student interested in taking control of their own learning. We will be hosting an Open House for anyone interested in learning more about Endeavor on Thursday, January 5 or Wednesday, January 18 6-7:30 at Endeavor Charter School. You can also stop in and see us at Freshman Preview Night on January 12.

Come join our #WatertownWay WHS Wind Symphony in welcoming the Wind Ensemble from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse at a free concert on Thursday, January 19, 2023! This celebration of band music is free and open to the public. The concert is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. in the WHS Auditorium. A free will donation will be accepted at the door.

Endeavor Charter School is an innovative, project-based school for students in grades 9-12 who are interested in being part of a small community of learners and taking control of their own learning. Applications are due January 31, 2023 and space is limited.
Fiction to Film Club Information Sheet
Dear Parents and Guardians,
RMS is re-starting a group this year called the Fiction to Film Club. The club will start in January, 2023. During each month, students will read a selected book. Each time we meet, the movie version of the book will be screened. Snacks will be provided during the movie screening, but your student is welcome to bring their own healthy snack if they wish. Below is a tentative list of books and dates. Please know that the books and dates are subject to change based on availability of books, movies, snow days etc.
January 31st: The Fantastic Mr. Fox
February 28: The Watsons go to Birmingham
March 31: Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children
April 25: I am David
May 23: How to Eat Fried Worms
Students are free to attend as many or as few movies as they would like. They do need to sign up for each book that they plan on participating in, so we have enough copies of the books. I will be providing the books that we are reading. Some of the books will be checked out from the Watertown Public Library, so students will be encouraged to keep track of them. However, if you have a copy of the book at home, or your student wishes to have their own copy, they are more than welcome to bring that in.
