Last Friday, these #WatertownWay LEAP Leopards participated in a FUN Fri-YAY! Students practiced reading sight words while playing their favorite board games. Before taking their turn, students had to read a sight word from their pile of cards. It was so sweet watching students help out their team member when a word was challenging to them. They sure know how to make learning fun!

The WHS Chapter of the National Tri-M Music Honor Society donated $1,500 this year to our three #WatertownWay elementary school music teachers in the WUSD! The high school musicians donated the money to purchase instruments, buy new technology for the classroom and pay for field trips that will broaden the musical experiences of our elementary students in Watertown and inspire them to continue making music. We are proud to be the Watertown UNIFIED School District! ๐Ÿ˜

Excitement was in the air at LEAP on Tuesday as Mrs. Pirkel welcomed our incoming Kindergarteners for the 2022-23 school year at our #WatertownWay Kindergarten Orientation! They had the chance to check out the school, meet new friends, and do fun activities - like making a leopard mask! As a reminder of their fun time together, Mrs. Pirkel sent them home with a cute homemade bag, their mask, and a book.

Here's a second SHOUT OUT to show our appreciation for our School Lunch Heroes: Our #WatertownWay Nutrition Services team has worked tirelessly to provide emergency meals to students since the pandemic closed schools in March of 2020. The extension of free meals for all students for the past two years, coupled with severe supply chain disruptions, has created many unique challenges requiring nutrition programs to be creative in the areas of staffing and meal production. A HUGE THANK YOU to our Nutrition Services staff for the effort and care that you pour into your work daily for our students!

Miss Getlinโ€™s 2/3 LEAP Elementary classroom adopted a calf this year named Juniper. Throughout the school year they were updated on Juniper as she grew and the students learned a lot about the life of a dairy cow. Last month, they had the opportunity to Zoom with Farmer Ed at Star Rocks Farm to learn about how farmers practice sustainability. Then last week they received their final update on Juniper - who is now 5 months old and 400 pounds! They also had the chance to meet Juniper over Zoom. It has been great having Juniper a part of the class! ๐Ÿฎ
